DEADWOOD
About Deadwood Forestry
Who We Are
We are a forestry business that provides services to the greater Sierra Nevada region in both Nevada and California. We reside and are based out of Reno, Nevada. Our owner, Lane Bennett, grew up on the southern end of the Sierras and ventured north to Reno to attend the University of Nevada where he studied 4 years to receive a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering. While doing so, he spent his summers fighting fires with the Rifle Peak and Slide Mountain hand crews based out of North Lake Tahoe. With a newfound love for fighting fires and protecting forests he realized the overwhelming importance of the preventative side of firefighting including forestry practices, fuels reduction, and tree felling. This necessarily led him into the private forestry sector where both new and existing skills were developed and refined to include knowledge on appropriate forestry practices, operation of heavy equipment, and the advanced technical use of the chainsaw. After nearly a decade in the industry the experience that came with jobs ranging from residential single tree removals to full scale logging operations gave Lane the skills necessary to develop his own business, Deadwood Forestry. We are a trusted business that brings competent and valuable skills to each customer.

A Little About Us
We provide our services in the place we love the most, the Sierra Nevada Mountains. This region has a special place in our heart because it is where we grew up, where we work every day, and where we spend our time recreating.
While we are not working, we are taking advantage of this beautiful place in which we live, hiking up to its prominent peaks and venturing down into its beautiful valleys. We have a true passion for the seasonal activities here in the Sierras. During winters we love skiing and snowboarding the resorts as well as touring the backcountry’s seemingly infinite number of mountain tops. As the seasons change and the days warm up, the snow begins to melt and the river valleys come alive bringing the whitewater kayaking season. While some say it’s crazy hurtling down a raging river, with the necessary skills and techniques we find it to be one of the most fulfilling and surreal feelings on earth. The Sierra Nevadas are known worldwide for some of the best whitewater kayaking due to their beautiful smooth granite lined valleys.
We call this place home. Our mission is to protect and preserve this land one job at a time by creating healthy forests and preventatively fighting wildfires.
